Lufthansa Group cancels Beijing and Shanghai flights until end of winter timetable / reduces Hong Kong flights

After a thorough evaluation of all currently available information of the virus, the Lufthansa Group has now decided to cancel the flights of Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines from/to Beijing and Shanghai until the end of the winter timetable on 28 March. Initially they had been suspended until 29 February. Flights to Nanjing, Shenyang and Qingdao had already been suspended until the end of the winter timetable.

For Lufthansa Cargo freighter services, we have set up a special site on our external website www.lufthansa-cargo.com at "Newsroom".
It has just been updated with the flights approved for the upcoming week until 21 February 2020.

Due to the current demand situation for flights to and from Hong Kong, slight capacity adjustments will be made: For Lufthansa, some flights will be cancelled. SWISS will be using smaller aircraft on its flights to and from Hong Kong in March.
Like the responsible authorities and other airlines, we assess the security situation for flights to/from Hong Kong differently than from/to mainland China and therefore continue to fly there. For example, the Federal Foreign Office explicitly excludes Hong Kong and Macao from its advises against all travel. The Lufthansa Group will continue to monitor the situation and, if necessary, will decide on further action at short notice in cooperation with the responsible authorities.

Until further notice, live animals (AVI) and the BXO express service are no longer bookable on routes to and from China (mainland); the express capacity guarantee does not apply on these routes.

If your shipment is affected by flight cancellations or changes, it will be automatically rebooked. Information on the current status can be retrieved at any time in our eTracking system.
